Make sure you close your Bartercard account properly

Around 2004-5 we agreed to try out Bartercard and by around 2007 it had caused us nothing but administrative grief that I asked the UK to close our Bartercard account.


12 months after the official request nothing had happened and so I wrote an article entitled “Bartercard an example of poor customer service” which outlined the details and the Australian HQ got the UK to sort things out... or so I thought.

I deleted the negative article, which was commanding a front page listing on Google when you searched, example of poor customer service... I did this when we had reached an agreement, which I understood to be a competed zerod out account and no further charges would be made against my Bartercard account. They were desperate to keep the account open... I assumed this was to do with the numbers that all sales people are challenged with... as long as there were no further charges I saw no harm in it.

I’m sure they will have a full record of all these discussions with the communication ending around 2008... I’d ignored all the following post from them because as far as I was concerned the relationship was over.

Then all of a sudden, out of the blue, last month around £15 is taken from my account without my permission... I called them and asked them to sort it out and we got back into the old history and it appears limited info relating to the account is on the system... I advised the new account manager that if I was charged again then I would write an article and publish it again for the world to see.

Today, 10th November 2011, Bartercard took another £25 out of my account... without my permission...


This is beyond a joke... close my Bartercard account and refund the £40 you have “stolen” from me.

I expect I am not alone and Bartercard appear to be very effective at destroying any remaining customer relationships when people want to walk away. This is unforgiveable...

If you have had a bad experience of Bartercard or feel that their extracting money from my account without my permission is tantamount to fraud... then please share this story with others you know so they can begin to see the bigger picture... that in today’s world you can’t go around just helping yourself to other people’s money when you feel like it... that when a customer says stop then stop and allow them to walk away.

Get it sorted Bartercard... put my money back in my account... close the account completely and get out of my life... thank you.
